My first stop was in Helsingborg, where I crashed at Ida's place and hung out with her and her boyfriend. Now Helsingborg is usually a city I wouldn't find worth my time visiting; but when one of your childhood friends moves to the south and you haven't seen her in ages, you start to miss her and find Helsingborg worth your time to visit. So I did, like I also promised her. We had loads of fun! I got to know her boyfriend a bit better than I previously had, we catched up on life in general, we saw amazing architechture, and we also took a daytrip to the neighbouring country: Denmark. We basically ate a lot too, and my love for chocolate was definitely declared in Copenhagen - Ida can definitely concur to that. In Copenhagen, Ida took me to the most cosy café I've ever seen. Retro and cosy with awesome food, for not that much of your wallet. Apres ca, we wandered the streets of Copenhagen, stopped by a Bridal store and checked out weddingdresses, and also hung out mostly at the Lego store.
Getting back to Helsingborg; it is a really cosy town. I found it remarkably pretty and personally cosy, so I can just imagine the beauty it will have during the summers! Seriously, the cafés in Helsingborg are like ten times better and more cosier than in Stockholm. The restaurants too for that matter. On my last day, Ida and her boyfriend showed me this awesome Italian restaurant which was so cosy and so personally decorated, it basically breathed the best of Italy! It's not easy to succeed with such things, especially not in Stockholm. Many restaurants just end up being too big and spacey, that the personal and characteristical details disappear leaving no effect. After we lunched there, her boyfriend Niklas took us to a really retro and cool diner where we had coffee/tea. Then I departed for Malmö.
Malmö. It was probably the one city I never liked and had tons of prejudice against. Well, I was sort of proven wrong... As soon as I got to the station and went looking for Ivona, I heard that dispicable accent of theirs everywhere. However, I must say that during my stay it grew on me so I don't find as dispicable as I used to. One of my major prejudice is that crime is happening 24/7 in Malmö (it does everywhere though) and that there are police cars around every corner and block. Now that's a lot of reinforcement, right? So as soon as I meet Ivona, I start pulling jokes based on my prejudice, mocking her big time. She stays loyal to her new hometown and laughs it all of, saying stuff in the aire of "screw you!". Then five minutes after my arrival, after the first block and corner that we turn on - what do I see? Three police cars, blue and red lights twirling around in the darkness, police officers (hot ones!) standing around, two guys who were arrested (one standing outside, one in one of the police cars), a combi car with it's trunk popped and stuff that looks like drugs such as cocaine and shit. Well, what do you know! (Eat that Ivona, haha.) I looked at her with a smug smile slapped on my face and she probably whispered "damn it".
Apart from that, we rented a bunch of movies and pigged out. I visited her college (Musikhögskolan i Malmö) and watched her rehearse with a pianist. It spread a form of nostalgia on me and I remembered how fun music and ensembles could be. Almost as if I wanted to go back to it; obviously not as a profession. We walked a lot too, my feet got all sore from walking all over Malmö center. Ivona showed me some mind blowing architechture that they had at a vicinity called Västra Hamnen. OMG the houses and buildings were so friggin pretty and probably cost a fortune! If I'd ever have to live in Malmö, then Västra Hamnen is the place I'd make sure I'd live in. I even found my dream house there (although, I have many dream houses).
What else is new..? Right! I recieved my letter of acceptance from Heidelberg University. This whole Erasmus is starting to feel a bit more real now. I also got an accomodation, I don't know which or how big but at least I have a place. So I'm definitely excited and it's pretty much only a month left. I should book my plane tickets soon. And start planning what I need to bring. So far I have 7 pairs of shoes coming with me, 4 bags, 3-4 jackets and pretty much my whole wardrobe. It's probably more than necessary, but I'm a girl; I need my various options of clothing.
